We’re Hiring a Front-End Developer

Location: Ouseburn, Newcastle, Hybrid

Salary range: £30–50k

We’re looking for a Front-End Developer to join us as we continue to grow and take on more ambitious digital projects.

At Vida, we design and build bespoke websites and digital products for clients across a range of sectors, including tech, sport, culture and charity. Nothing we create is off-the-shelf or templated.

Everything is carefully considered, thoughtfully designed and built to last. We care about strong design, refined interactions and digital experiences that feel intuitive and well-made.

As we scale, we’re looking for someone who shares that mindset, takes pride in their work and wants to raise the standard with us.

The role

As our Front-End Developer, you’ll shape and build front-end experiences across both marketing websites and web applications.

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply be handed a design and asked to replicate it. You’ll be involved in conversations around detail, interaction and refinement, helping to ensure what we build feels as good as it looks.

You’ll work closely with designers and back-end developers to bring high-quality digital products to life, balancing precision with performance and long-term maintainability.

We’re growing steadily and winning exciting work, so this is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop alongside the studio and play a meaningful part in the work we’re known for.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll spend your time:

  • Building bespoke WordPress themes using Sage and Blade (we don’t use page builders).
  • Developing Vue.js front-ends for web applications.
  • Turning high-end Figma designs into pixel-accurate, accessible builds.
  • Crafting thoughtful interaction and animation details that elevate the overall experience.
  • Writing clean, scalable SASS/CSS (we favour BEM principles and well-structured systems).
  • Contributing to our tooling, workflows and technical standards as we evolve.
  • Using AI tools, such as Claude Code, in a considered way to improve efficiency and quality.

We scope properly, design intentionally and build with long-term maintenance in mind, so you’ll have the space to do things properly rather than cutting corners.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with strong fundamentals in HTML, modern CSS and JavaScript, along with experience building custom WordPress themes. Experience with Vue.js or a similar modern JavaScript framework is important, as is confidence working with Git and local development environments.

Beyond technical capability, we care a lot about attitude and attention to detail. We’re looking for someone who:

  • Naturally notices the difference between something that works and something that feels polished.
  • Be part of design and bigger picture conversations.
  • Cares about quality and enjoys being part of a collaborative team.

For us, the depth and quality of your experience matter more than the number of years you’ve been doing it.

How we work

Rather than leaning on buzzwords or rigid processes, we focus on principles that genuinely shape how we deliver our work. We aim to produce the best work by focusing on clarity and meaningful outcomes.

We strive to be the best team by hiring thoughtful, capable people who support one another and take pride in what they create.

We partner with clients who value collaboration and considered build, rather than volume or churn.

And we’re committed to creating the best place to work where people can learn, contribute ideas and enjoy doing great work together.

You’ll be joining a close-knit team in our Ouseburn studio, where questions and ideas are always welcome. We avoid unnecessary complexity and build things in a way that will still feel solid years down the line.

Studio & benefits

  • Hybrid working – no fixed office days, although most of us are in the studio two or three days a week
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Your birthday off
  • A nine-day fortnight
  • Dog-friendly office
  • Regular socials, meals and away days

Please note: We’re not working with recruiters on this role at the moment.
