We've welcomed Caroline to the team as Digital Lead, to support technical projects.
We’re thrilled that the news is finally out there. We quizzed Caroline on her background so you can get to know her better.
A passion for accessible web design
Can you tell us about your background and experience?
I’ve been creating client websites within an agency setting and also working for myself for around 15 years. I’ve had the pleasure of working on a variety of projects including household names such as Fiat, Blackberry and Clarks shoes. I do have a passion for fast-loading and accessible web design, and I love to ‘pay it forward’ by volunteering as a STEM Ambassador and Google Women Techmaker.
Self-taught developer with digital marketing expertise
What inspired you to pursue a career in digital marketing?
My academic background was graphic design and advertising and I’m a self-taught developer of the pre-Facebook era. Over time I’ve seen the landscape change considerably and started learning more about Digital Marketing around 2017. Websites are considered a key component of digital marketing, so it was a natural progression to build upon and level-up my knowledge.
What are some of the latest trends and innovations that you find particularly exciting?
I’ve been having a lot of fun delving into A.I specifically using tools such as ChatGPT and Midjourney. It feels very much like the early days of the Internet; the exploration, discovering something new and unknown is exciting – it’s great to experiment and just have fun with it, without there needing to be a commercial element.
What inspired you to apply for the role at Vida?
I came to Vida after having previously been a Director of an agency, with a team of 5. Vida’s culture and ethics very much match my own and they are very inclusive and welcoming, everyone has a chance to participate. I’m keen to bring new ideas and techniques to the table – not just in Web Development, but widening our marketing efforts and supporting the team.
Excited to get involved
How do you envision collaborating with other teams within our agency?
I’m very excited to learn more about Vida’s approach to projects and design solutions – the team is highly-skilled and it has been interesting to hear about their experiences and see the work they are producing. I think maintaining the balance of a fun place to work, which is motivating, inspiring and ensuring we can all deliver to a high-standard is an importance balance. Maintaining that is key – happy staff, happy agency!
A changing landscape
Do you have any advice or tips for businesses looking to boost online presence?
The landscape is drastically changing and many popular platforms are launching new features all the time. A.I has become a buzzword but it can only take us so far. When it comes to creating unique, human-generated content, having a strong strategy can ensure you are creating content with purpose and clear goals to aim for.
